A Note from Our CEO: The Village Behind the Healing
Dear Help Therapy Community,
Mental health care is often described as treatment, support, or therapy. But at its core, healing is really about connection.
Every day, we see an invisible network of people quietly helping others hold on:
The scheduler staying late to call a veteran.
The physician noticing subtle shifts in a patient.
The caregiver balancing bone-deep exhaustion with love.
The therapist creating a safe space for someone to finally exhale.
Healing rarely happens all at once, and it never happens alone.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to recognize the entire village behind the healing process—the professionals, families, friends, referral partners, and every courageous individual continuing to show up.
In a world moving faster every year, human connection remains our most powerful medicine.
Thank you for being part of our village.
Warmly,
Annette Conway, PsyD, CEO

Brain Break: The 30-Second "Mind Trap" Challenge
Our providers, referrers, and families work incredibly hard—so take a quick 30-second break to test your instincts with this fun cognitive puzzle!
The Scenario: You walk through your front door after an absolutely brutal day. You are greeted by a mountain of unfolded laundry and a sink overflowing with dirty dishes. A wave of intense anxiety and exhaustion hits you, and your brain instantly tells you: "Because I feel completely overwhelmed right now, it means my life is a total disaster and I am failing." Be honest. We’ve all been there. But in cognitive behavioral theory, this specific loop has a name.
Can you guess the clinical name for this mental trap?
A) Magnification
B) Emotional Reasoning
C) Mental Filtering
D) Overgeneralization

The AI Reality Check: Smart Tool, But Not a Real Relationship
Artificial intelligence has officially entered the wellness chat. From AI journaling buddies to automated mindfulness prompts, tech is trying hard to manage our peace of mind.
But before you let an algorithm become your therapist, let’s look at The Stoplight Framework for healthy AI use:
🟢 GREEN LIGHT: Use It For the Logistics
Tracking your sleep cycles and mood trends.
Generating quick mindfulness prompts or grounding exercises when you're stressed.
Organizing your daily wellness schedule.
🟡 YELLOW LIGHT: Proceed With Caution
Protect your privacy: Don't type your deepest, darkest secrets into a public server.
Keep it real: Be careful not to replace real-world relationships with digital ones. An app cannot grab coffee with you.
🔴 RED LIGHT: Time to Log Off
The bottom line: AI cannot experience or express genuine human empathy. An algorithm might give you a great response, but it can't actually care about you. Real, deep-rooted healing happens through trust, shared vulnerability, and feeling truly understood by another human being.
The Big Takeaway: AI is a great tool for the toolkit, but human connection is the foundation of the house. 🏠
🌿 The 2026 Wellness Trend: "Doing Less Better"
For years, being busy became a badge of honor. Now, many people are moving in the opposite direction.
Mental health professionals are seeing more people intentionally protecting their energy by:
📵 Creating phone-free time
🌲 Slowing down daily routines
👥 Choosing deeper relationships over larger social circles
🛑 Reducing multitasking
😴 Prioritizing sleep and recovery
Sometimes emotional wellness does not come from adding more habits. Sometimes it comes from removing noise.

🔑 Brain Break Answer Reveal!
The Correct Answer is: B) Emotional Reasoning.
This specific cognitive distortion tricks us into thinking: "I feel it, therefore it must be a fact." It completely bypasses objective reality (a few dirty dishes and temporary exhaustion) and lets a fleeting, heavy emotion dictate the absolute truth of who you are.
Give yourself some grace today—feeling like things are a mess doesn't mean you are a mess! 🧼
