  • Dr. Michael McGinty PsyD

Make an Appointment or Referral Specialties Depression, Relational Difficulties, Anxiety, Bipolar, Grief and Loss Whether it be a significant life change, relational difficulties, feeling like we aren’t where we are “supposed to be” in life, or the loss of a loved one, there are many unexpected events that cause us to feel “stuck.” My job as a therapist is help you get “unstuck” by aiding you in better understanding the underlying factors contributing to these difficulties, and the changes you can make to better manage them. This includes exploration of the thoughts, emotions, and interpersonal relationships surrounding them. Part of the reason for my focus on relationships is that I am certified in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), an approach that focuses on the role of interpersonal issues in psychological distress. The evidence for IPT supports its use for treating concerns related to anxiety and depression, and is of course, helpful in building or repairing relationships.
