Deciding to seek assistance from someone else takes much courage and humility. Being willing to allow another to help you through a difficult time is often an important part of the healing process. The choice to seek help is yours, and you have the right to refuse help. However, problems usually get better only when people are willing to work towards improvement. "Healthy, normal" people may require a doctor of medicine to help them with physical problems, and "healthy, normal" people may require a doctor of psychology to help them with psychological problems. Just as it is important for you to find a physician who is competent and who you feel comfortable with, so it is important that you find a mental health provider whom you can trust.
