Sandee Beal has been in the mental health and counseling profession for over ten years. Her areas of expertise include depression, anxiety and trauma in adults and teens. She currently specializes in adolescents and families using strength based methods and family systems. Her most recent experience includes working at East County Family Child Counseling where she has been providing authentic psychotherapy using CBT and faith based approaches to couples, families, and individuals of all ages.
Before this Sandee was the Head of Health & Wellness at MAAC Charter High School in San Diego where she led and promoted mental health for community events and established a recognized system to improve student achievement incorporating individualized planning. She was also the key liaison in promoting overall emotional, mental and physical health in building a culturally sensitive bridge for student academic success.
At Mental Health Systems in Escondido Sandee worked as a Bilingual Program Therapist for the Youth At Risk program.
At Almansor Center Clinical Services in Los Angeles she worked as a Mental Health Therapist providing therapeutic services to high-risk youth through a school based and outreach program.
In her practicum at Montebello Unified School District, Sandee was a guidance counselor to students and families of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures, addressing academic, career, social and personal domains. She also assisted students with individual learning plans, alternative education programs, and applying legal and ethical mandates.
Other experiences include working as a gymnastics instructor at Pyke Gymnastic Center where Sandee used her personal experience as a collegiate gymnast to mentor and train aspiring girls in the sport of competitive gymnastics. She also participated in UCLA’s Prison Coalition program where she mentored inmates.
Sandee earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Anthropology from UCLA, her Master of Science degree in Psychology and her Pupil Personal Services Credential from California State University, Los Angeles, and is a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
