Kelly Kaitson, LCSW is passionate about helping individuals and families reach wholeness. Kelly joins the client where they are and encourages growth, exploration and focus in obtaining emotional, mental and spiritual health. Kelly’s warm, empathetic and non judgmental approach to therapy brings the safety and support necessary to face issues of challenge truthfully in order to find resolution and wholeness. She works collaboratively to help her clients gain insight and understanding into the causes of problems and explores ways to reduce emotional distress.
Kelly Kaitson, LCSW began working in Hospice in 2000 and was able to see the personal issues, emotions and challenges of the declining patient and also the issues families faced on this journey. Kelly has a wealth of experience in assisting those who have suffered loss, preparing for a loss or are possibly feeling “stuck” in grief/bereavement or a traumatic response to a life event. Adjustment to life stages is where Kelly has special background/training and where clients can feel the experience she gained in working in the tender issues of end of life care. Kelly understands the challenges of life-stage-related issues such as adjustment from singleness to marital status, new parenthood, the child rearing working parent, couple’s stressors/issues, transitions of retirement and the issues of progressing limitations in a challenging or declining health conditions. Kelly’s training in anxiety, depression and adjustment reactions as well as stress management through strong clinical interventions assists clients in moving toward wholeness and spiritual peace.
Kelly Kaitson, LCSW earned her Master’s degree in Social Work at San Diego State University with a concentration in Health/Aging. Kelly has felt drawn to the issues of the changing stages of life and how one can find personal satisfaction and support through transitions. Kelly obtained advanced training in EMDR through the EMDR Institute to better assist those who have not been able to get past, or shed, issues of anxiety or trauma. Further, Kelly has special training working with both active and retired military service members and has certification in ELNEC (End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium-for Veterans) with special attention to legal/ethical issues and cultural considerations for clients and their families.
Kelly looks forward to her work with HELP and bringing therapeutic resolve to clients via Telehealth and home visits in the North County of San Diego in 2018!
