I began my counseling career while on active duty at the Naval Drug and Alcohol Counseling School working specifically in the substance abuse field for the US Navy in 2002 working with active-duty military personal.

There I worked extensively with young men and women implementing Crisis interventions for those who struggled with feelings of Anger, Depression, Pre-deployment and Post-deployment Depression and Anxieties, people suffering with Grief and loss issues, parenting related issues unique to the active-duty military members, Feelings related to Relationships and dysfunctional Family dynamics. Couples and friends who struggled with the long-term separation issues associated with long deployments. Often times these people turned to Substance Abuse as a means of coping while other people simply suffer in silence and develop low Self-Esteem issues as a result.

If you can relate to these things, I believe I can help.

In 2012, I retired from the Navy on a Friday afternoon after working as a Navy Addiction's Counselor only to return to work as a Retiree, now working for the United States Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton in the Substance Abuse Counseling Program. If you are a military veteran or an active-duty service member or Spouse of a military member, I believe I will be able to understand you, your situation; You Are NOT alone! I take a non-judgmental and collaborative approach in working with people, and my main approach to counseling is believing that things happen for a reason and that we all are able to work through our challenges in life and we can recover enough to move forward successfully and live a healthier and happier life!

I mostly work from an existential perspective: a philosophical theory or approach which emphasizes the existence of the individual person as a free and responsible agent determining their own development through acts of the will (Wikipedia). My practice is virtual telehealth that offers you the option of a safe, secure and HIPPA compliant provider to patient video connection in the convenience of your home. There is no hassle with transportation, office visits, and wait times. I am also willing to do some in-home visits for those with special circumstances, but on a case by case only, and once we have built a trusting relationship; this will allow us to work on your concerns in a safe and secure environment of your choosing.
