My name is Fran La Mons and I am excited to provide Mental Health services for Individuals, Families, Couples of all ages, in order to help with Mindfully approaching Mental Health with a variety of evidenced base practices.
Education & Training
In 2010, I earned a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from National University. I have 9 plus years working with dual diagnosed clients, and was a Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LAADC), and now a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I have extensive training in Adult and Adolescent Dialectical Behavior Training (DBT), and in 12 Step Programs for a variety of substance use recovery to include co-dependency.
My experience working within the field of substance abuse dates to 1984 where I served CONUS and abroad as a substance abuse counselor while active duty enlisted, in the United States Marine Corps. I have gained clinical hours within Inpatient, Outpatient, Residential, Community based, and School environments, working with ages 6-92 years old and really enjoying a diverse client case load. This work provided me experience in Intensive Case Management and Therapeutic services with Older Adults, Acute care for Adolescents, and Mild to Moderate Mental Illness for those with Addictions. I am also a strong ally within the LGBT community, and provide mental and spiritual health services for LGBTQ consumers.
Personal History and Interests
I have two grown daughters whom I raised as a single parent. Being a Veteran myself, I very much enjoy working with active service military personnel, Veterans and their families. On my off days, I can be found gaining wisdom and peace while balancing my life with my faith. I enjoy weight lifting, the beach, caring for my fur-babies, and blissfully tending to my garden. As to my personal qualities, I am tenacious, I like to lead by example, and practice daily what I teach.
