Dr. Anita Mancini-Michell is a clinical psychologist in San Antonio, Texas. She obtained her Bachelor's of Art degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
She worked for 13 years at the Bexar County Adult Probation Department and Detention Center conducting psychological assessments of incarcerated as well as adults on probation. She earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from St. Mary’s University while working full-time. During this time she gained experience working in a juvenile detention setting, a university counseling center conducting couples, family and individual counseling, as well as, crisis intervention.
She went on to earn a Psy.D. degree in Counseling Psychology at Our Lady of the Lake University in Texas. She obtained specialized training in forensic psychology and the applications of social science research to legal problems during her Kerrville State Hospital internship. She went on to work with adults in an acute setting at San Antonio State Hospital for eleven years. This involved conducting intake assessments, individual and group therapies, crisis intervention, dangerousness risk assessments and suicide risk assessments. She was a member of a multi-disciplinary team offering psychological insights and case formulation to team members.
Dr. Mancini transferred to a forensic unit and conducted competency evaluations for criminal courts, offered expert testimony, conducted competency groups and individual therapy, as well as debriefings and risk assessments. She served on a Crisis Intervention Team and was an Internship Supervisor for medical and doctorate students rotating through the hospital system.
Dr. Mancini also has a private practice conducting pre-employment psychological evaluations for corrections and emergency communications officers as well as patrol officers for various counties and jurisdictions in south Texas. She currently works with Veterans performing C&P exams.
